Mark Shuttleworth » The mouse that jumped
We are a tiny band in a market of giants, but our focus on delivering free software freely together with enterprise support, services and solutions appears to be opening doors, and minds, everywhere. So, in honour of the valiantly tiny leaping long-tailed over the obstacles of life, our next release which will be Ubuntu 17.04, is hereby code named the ‘Zesty Zapus’.

Canonical releases #Ubuntu 16.10 | Ubuntu Insights
For the first time I'm not entirely sure if I will update, before I get to play around with the #Unity 8 preview at least. Since 16.04 will likely (?) be the last LTS running Unity 7, going away from LTS seems like a big risk, considering the low 9 month support of non-LTS releases.
Have you upgraded?

I've got a problem with #ubuntu 16.04
When I get to the login screen and fill in my username and password it goes back to the login screen, bootloop.
When ik press ctrl alt f1 the terminal opens and again I fill in my username and password but then it says that there are no updates available and goes back to login again.
So I can't use the terminal, I've tried boot repair with a Bootable usb but nothing works.
I can't find any useful information on the Internet.

#Ubuntu is a Nguni Bantu term for human kindness, compassion and understanding, akin to “love thy neighbor.”

And just as I switched to #Android for a while, Ubuntu phone finally gets CalDav :D

Got a new phone today, the #OnePlus 3. Pretty neat piece of technology. Also 6GB RAM. Yeah, really. The large screen takes a little getting used to, as does the minimal / none at all space between the screen and the edges. Keep touching the edges with my clumsy fingers..
So what happened to my #Ubuntu phone? Nothing really, it's still here. There has been huge improvements in that world, but it's still a very slow process and I just wanted a little change from the constant waiting for new features and apps. I already miss the #UX which is far better than #Android imho. I really hate this three lower buttons old UX. But what can you do, Android just holds mobile at the moment.
One of the reasons I bought the OnePlus 3 was that it's a likely phone to have an Ubuntu image in the future, considering there is already one for the first version. The high HW specs means I can use Android now and when Ubuntu matures, the phone will still have enough kick to be useful. Well, if it matures, which I do hope it does :)
I did try returning to my #Jolla but it's still a weird mix of two different OS's with little interaction between, and most Android apps (since #Sailfish apps are lacking) don't function properly, with for example background notifications. Unfortunately creates a very broken kind of feeling, not being able to trust for example IM or email notifications even to come through (the built-in email client is horrible).

Sami Lehtinen (sl)'s status on Friday, 22-Jul-2016 11:03:40 UTC Sami Lehtinen User Experience. It took quite a while for me to figure out why WiFi / WLAN wasn't working. Reason? Access Point (AP) was configure to use n standard. But the old device only supported g standard. Guess what, Xubuntu, doesn't indicate any kind of reason for this fail. Just just tries to connect for a long time, and then fails. Yet another example of engineering, how to totally fail and even fail to give any kind of feedback or reasonable error message. After wondering for a while, I enabled gn mixed mode, and tada, everything started to work. Yet, the network list nicely shows the n network and prompts for password, even if the device naturally can't join the network- Thank you once again for great engineering guys. - Phew. #Ubuntu #Linux #WLAN #WiFi #fail
