"Afternoon, Sir. Can we help?"
"Yeah - I want a better deal on my membership."
"OK, here's the best we can do."
"That's not good enough for me."
"Really? No-one else in the club has such a deal."
"Well, I don't like the paying and I don't like the rules. I don't like how we vote. You're all a dictator. I've decided - I'm leaving. I'm cancelling my membership."
"But I still want access."
"Right. OK - we can sort out some partial access deal... but you'd need full membership for full access."
"Oh, so you want to punish me for not being a member, eh?!"
"Yes, you're punishing me. You're just like a WWII prison guard beating me for trying to escape."
"Um, what? You're free to go..."
"You need me more than I need you!"

Brexit court defeat for UK government - BBC News
Yay, win of sanity. The thought that 52% of people who bothered to vote on one single day could shape the future of the country without parliament being consulted is just ridiculous. 52% is nothing. It's not even a proper majority. It's basically half/half.

As for “punishing” the #UK, the EU has far too much on its plate to indulge in punitive expeditions. It will defend its national and continental interests with as much vigour as #Britain will. And, since the EU is more than seven times bigger, it will impose its will.
Whatever the political darlings of the billionaire-owned British press tell themselves and their followers, Brexit will mean what the EU decides it means.

I'm being stripped of my #citizenship – along with 65 million other Britons | David Shariatmadari | The Guardian
One of the reasons the 23 June referendum was a fraud is that what was posed as a simple question of “in” or “out” in fact hid a multitude of other decisions. Though it wasn’t framed this way, it served as an opportunity for a simple majority of voters (in fact, 37% of the electorate) to decide to strip the entire population of EU citizenship.

The year #1976.
1976 (MCMLXXVI) was a leap year starting on Thursday (dominical letter DC) of the Gregorian calendar, the 1976th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 976th year of the 2nd millennium, the 76th year of the 20th century, and the 7th year of the 1970s decade.
The year when the commercial #Concorde flights started, #Bangladesh and #Pakistan make up, the #US vetoes calls for a #Palestinian state, #Spain withdraws from Western Sahara, #Apple is formed, #Ramones release their first album, an earthquake kills 900 in #Italy, #Syria intervenes in the #Lebanese civil war, the Sex Pistols perform some of their first concerts, #Seychelles gains independence from the #UK, North #Vietnam unites with the south to form the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, leftist #German terror group members go on trial, Viking 1 and 2 land on Mars, an earthquake kills 242,769 (!) people in #China, first outbreak of the #Ebola virus, state of emergency since 1939 lifted in #Ireland, The Muppet Show is aired on #TV, space shuttle #Enterprise rolls out of the hangar, #U2 is formed, anti Fidel #Castro terrorists bomb a plane killing 73, a British Airways and a Yugoslav plane collide mid-air killing 176, right-wing paramilitaries massacre #students in Bangkog, the Chinese Cultural Revolution ends, Chimpanzee is placed on the endangered list, an earthquake kills 3,800 in #Turkey, Murara erupts in Zaire, the first laser printer is introduced by #IBM and Diffie-Hellman key exchange #cryptography is proposed.
Just a regular year on #Earth. This was also the year I was born on this day. During these 40 years humanity has enjoyed a relatively peaceful and successful period of growth.
Please help that we could have another 40 years on this Earth by fighting #climatechange and #hatred. You can help by sharing knowledge of these threats, choosing leaders who will actually try to act and live like we're at war - since we are. At #war against ourselves. At war against the ignorance towards the #future and other #people.
I don't personally expect much from the next 40 years. But one can always hope.

Well most of the Leave voters probably don't care - they're either too old to ever leave the UK or are totally happy not to. Sad for the young generation.

Are you fecking kidding me? When Brexit won, the very next day, Boris Johnson and Michael Gove were called out for lying and ran for the hills. Claims by Nigel Farage the NHS was going to be £350 million better off. Rubbished the very next day.
How can you be outraged at Theresa May for breaking these pledges and promises when they always were utterly unattainable? You were lied to. Remain Campaign were no better, but acting surprised now that these pledges cannot be met is the daftest thing I have heard since Brexit first began.
